Völker Amerika Quarry


Near the village of Karlštejn is a cluster of large limestone quarries called the Czech Grand Canyon. [These quarries became one of the most popular destinations for Czech hikers and tourists after limestone mining ended in the 1960s.The most famous and largest quarry is called Velker Amerika. This quarry is adjacent to other quarries. These are Mexico, Canada, and a little further away, Little America. The Great America quarry is about 760 meters long and 160 meters wide, the quarry is 80 meters deep, and the lake is 20 meters deep.

After enjoying the walk, if you are so inclined, you can visit one of the most beautiful castles in the Czech Republic, the Karlštejn Castle.

He is said to appear suddenly and disappear again after a short time. He sometimes steals food from sleeping vagrants and sometimes kills them. There is a gong in one of the tunnels, and anyone who strikes it three times and shouts, “Hagen, take me away,” must return to that place within a year or die.
